People have many different writing inspirations and techniques but those inspirations and techniques depend solely on the person. In the article, 6 ways to be a productive Hemingway-level badass by Drake Baer, break down how one of the world’s greatest known writers use different techniques to write. From the time he got up to using a specific type of desk to positioning is paper a certain way, made all the difference in his writing. In Hemingway’s own words, he states, “You write until you come to a place where you still have your juice and know what will happen next”.
While reading How Can You Create Fiction When Reality Comes to Call? Written by Carolyn Chute she talks about how difficult it is to write a story while living your everyday life. She expresses how she’s itching to write, but her family, friends, pets and just life in general get in the way. It’s very hard balancing your daily life while also wanting to write. There are so many distractions that we don’t even realize are distractions until we actually want to sit down and focus on one thing. You wouldn’t think that your daily life would be a distraction because, well, it’s life. As a college student there are a number of distractions that come along with trying to write a paper or just doing general things. From trying to plan accordingly to getting the work done to waking up and attending class, is all a struggle. It’s honestly hard for me to do anything without picking my phone up, including homework. Having little brothers, two dogs, a social life, and a school life are all major distractions. I believe I can be a better writer if I really put my mind to it and try my best to eliminate distractions. Six ways I can avoid distractions/become a better writer are:
